Rosa Lopes Araujo, a beloved member of the Pawtucket, Rhode Island community, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2023, at the age of 92. Born and raised on the Island of Brava, daughter of the late Luisa Lopes. She survived her late sisters Zulmira and Domingas Lopes from Nossa Senhora Do Monte Pedra Molar. Rosa traveled to USA to provide opportunities for her family. She worked hard, once employed at Regal Plating Providence, and even sold Portuguese gold and handmade accessories on the side to support her family.

Rosa was a devoted mother of four, though sadly two of her children, Manuel Lopes and Jose Lopes Vieira, had already passed away. She is survived by her son Hilario Lopes and daughter Ana Dasilva, along with 16 grandchildren , 27 great-grandchildren and 7 Great-Great grandchildren. She was such a great woman and loved her family so much she raised her grandson Rui Lopes Vieira as if he was her own son from the time he was born, she was his Mother. She also leaves behind her niece Maria Indiana DaRosa and her late nephews. This loss is a tragedy, to her cousins and friends as she dedicated her life to her loved ones and everyone she considered family. She loved babies and enjoyed every moment of watching her family grow into a large and close-knit group. Rosa was a family-oriented person who always put her loved ones first, and her dedication to her family was evident throughout her life

Rosa was a woman of strong values and principles. She believed in accountability, honesty, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her family attributes their own outspokenness and boldness to her influence. Rosa was deeply loved by her family and friends, and her presence will be sorely missed. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication to family.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, April 7th from 4pm-7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Her Funeral will begin on Saturday, April 8th at 10am from the Keefe Funeral Home with a 11am service. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
